AVIF to JPG Converter
Drop a AVIF, get a JPG. Nothing is uploaded.
Lower makes a smaller file and softens fine detail. 0.92 is what most tools use when they do not ask.
Neither a JPG nor a 24-bit BMP can be transparent, so whatever was see-through becomes this colour.
The shape is always kept, so the other side follows. Neither maximum ever ENLARGES a picture that is already smaller than it.
Pixels for either maximum, and a percentage for the last one. It is ignored while Resize is keeping the original size.
Nothing is uploaded. Your file is read in your browser and never leaves your computer.
What this does
A recent phone, a photo editor’s export dialogue and most large websites now save their pictures as AVIF. A JPG is what every site, every listing and every upload form expects, and it is small enough to send. It turns up when a modern site or a new phone saves a picture at its smallest, and then an older program refuses to open it.
How it works

- Wait for the JPGThe conversion runs on your own computer, so how long it takes depends on your machine and the size of the file, not on a queue.
- Download the JPGPress the download button. The JPG file lands in your downloads folder, ready for your slicer.

Questions
Is AVIF to JPG Converter free?
Yes. Every tool on Short Work Tools is free, with no account, no sign-in and no limit on how many files you run through it. It runs on your own computer, so it costs us nothing to give away.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Nothing is uploaded. Your file is read in your browser and never leaves your computer. There is no upload step, no server copy and nothing kept afterwards, which is also why it works with the network switched off once the page has loaded.
What does the JPG keep from the AVIF?
Photographs, in far fewer bytes than a PNG, at the cost of some detail. No transparency. Any see-through area is filled in with the background colour you pick, the extra colour depth is cut back to eight bits a channel, and the file grows.
How large a file can I use?
Up to 250 MB. The limit is your browser's memory rather than an upload size, because the file never goes anywhere; a file larger than that is refused with a message rather than crashing the tab.
Which programs write AVIF files?
A recent phone, a photo editor’s export dialogue and most large websites now save their pictures as AVIF. It turns up when a modern site or a new phone saves a picture at its smallest, and then an older program refuses to open it.
Does the converted picture keep the information the camera wrote into it?
No, and there is no setting for it because there is nothing to set. The picture is decoded to pixels and drawn onto a fresh canvas, and a canvas has no place to put the camera model, the date or the GPS position the original carried, so none of it is in the file you get back.
